Reasons to Invest In Basswood Shutters

Home & Garden Blog

Shutters are a popular option for window treatments as they can be used both internally as well as externally. However, since these shutters come in an array of options, homeowners may find the task of selecting one particular type daunting. If you are looking for natural wood shutters for your home, then basswood shutters should be one of your considerations. The wood used for these shutters are characterised by a fine finish, so you can be assured that your wood shutters will have a uniform appearance. Additionally, this type of wood is less susceptible to bleeding or producing too much resin, so you do not have to worry about its finish becoming compromised over time. Here are some of the reasons why you should invest in basswood shutters.

Basswood shutters are warp resistant

One of the main concerns when using wood as the main component of your window treatment is how well it will fare over time. This is especially important if you plan to use your shutters externally, hence, keeping them exposed to the elements. Basswood is a great option, as this type of wood does not succumb to the effects of regular exposure to both moisture and heat changed. As such, it gives you the freedom to install your shutters wherever you would like in and around your home.

Basswood shutters are non-porous

Most timber products tend to have high porosity levels. As such, you would have to be concerned with how easily the wood can absorb stains, finishes and more. This is not a concern with basswood as it has non-porous characteristics. This makes it better suited to the application of adhesives, as they will not eventually seep into the wood. As such, all joints formed on the basswood shutters using glue are likely to last a significant amount of time without coming apart. Overall, this makes it a more durable type of shutter.

Basswood shutters have versatility

Basswood shutters are highly versatile as they can be used for a range of applications. These shutters come in a range of configurations including hinged shutters, bifold shutters, fixed shutters and more. This gives you the chance to experiment with different designs in the different rooms of your home. Additionally, the blades of the basswood shutters come in a variety of widths. This gives you the chance to select a profile that would best meet your individual needs, whether in the form of light control or enhancing the privacy of your home.

Renovating Your House

Hello! Welcome to my blog! My name is Julie and I live in a large house in the suburbs of Perth, Australia. My husband and I moved into our current home a couple of years ago and since then we have been working to transform it into our dream place. The house itself is lovely, but the interior looked like something from the 1970s. When we started our renovation project we didn't have a clue what we were doing. However, with each job we completed and each mistake we made, we learnt a new skill. I decided I would like to share what we have learnt here.
